  • pizzapaddle2-thumb.jpgAll silliness aside, the new Giant supermarket on Route 322 is really my new favorite place to wander late at night! I used to be a devout Wegman’s follower, but the close proximity (about a two and a half minute car ride) to the center of West Chester has lured me in. While
writing this, I’m sipping on organic carrot-orange juice from their big organic isles – yum! At least once or twice a week, friends and I drive over and mull for hours over what specific snack we want to try that week – this week, it’s homemade gourmet pizzas!

  • images-2.jpg44 E. Gay Street is gearing itself up to house West Chester’s first wine tasting room – Kreutz Creek Vineyards new outpost! Most borough locals have yearned for a place to grab a nice bottle of wine, within walking distance, and their prayers have finally been answered. Right
now we’re lucky enough to be able to grab a growler at Iron Hill, but soon it’ll be just as easy to grab a nice Cabernet to take along to one of our many BYO restaurants.

We all have experienced post-church, hangover-nursing or even corporate breakfast gatherings but there is a new breakfast on the rise. Singles are testing the waters with breakfast dating. (Well, we are at least.)

  • sore-panty.jpgIn celebration of our last night we needed a drink. But what to get? I had tasted a local concoction called a Panty Ripper; pineapple juice and coconut rum. But this was too sweet for my taste. I loved the freshly squeezed lime juice that they mixed with sugar (like a lime-anade) that all the bars had so I decided to order a lime juice and coconut rum. When I went to the bar to order it I asked what he thought the name of my new drink should be. The answer? A Sour Panty. Which, after a few drinks and the local creole accent quickly was …

beach-morning.jpgFor our last day in Belize Patty and her husband joined us for a day at the beach. We caught a 6:00am bus to a ferry and the ferry dropped us off in Placencia, a quaint resort town that is known for having the world’s smallest main street (it’s the size of a sidewalk). Our hotel was literally across from the ferry doc and it was simply heaven.

  • fruit-breakfast-smile-mug.jpgWhen I woke up the first thing I did was check for bug bites. I searched my body and discovered four large bumps on my leg. I heard Patty cleaning in the kitchen and called out, “Pat, how do you know if you got a bite from a “bad” bug?”

window.jpg“That is actually a really hard maneuver that the pilot just did. He must be really good.” P.P said as we swung through the air making turns I thought only a race car could make.

  • According to a Craigslist.org ad, Butterfish is the new sister restaurant to current local favorite, Spence Cafe. With that in mind, I checked out Butterfish’s online menu – their dishes are similarly styled, but all selections are different from their sibling location. The prices are a little lower, as well – not significantly, but at least worth noting. I got a friend and a bottle of wine, called in a pick up order, and drove the ten blocks to grab what we were hoping to be the most delicious gourmet take-out order of our lives.

  • grangriafood.jpgWe caught a two hour bus ride to another two hour bus ride which landed us in Grangrega along the coast. Here we had a tasty dinner of fried conch at a riverside cafe. The interior reminded me of what I would expect the 50’s be like.Â
