The Carlino Family cultivated the finest fruits and vegetables and raised the healthiest game and livestock on the family farm in the sunny hills of Abbruzzi, Italy. It was there that many of Carlino’s truly old-world recipes were developed that are still enjoyed by our loyal customers today. Cured meats such as prosciutto and soppresatta, sausages, sun-dried tomatoes, crusty breads, oil-cured olives, dried figs and olive oils are just some of the items that have stood the test of time and remain virtually unchanged.
In the early 1900’s, Grandfather Pasquale came to America and was soon followed by his family. It was in the 1980’s that Carlino’s opened its first family store in Ardmore offering homemade pastas, sauces and the freshest pastries. Over the years, the business expanded at an amazing pace to become one of the best-known specialty food stores in the Philadelphia area. Now in its third generation of ownership, Carlino’s offers a truly amazing array of quality, fresh food products…homemade breads and pastries, prepared foods, sausages, roasts, salads, gelati as well and our award-winning Extra-Virgin Olive Oil and the most extensive international cheese selection in the area. Carlino’s also features an impressive selection of Italian groceries, many of which are imported exclusively by Carlino’s.

I used Carlino’s for a company event and was sorely disappointed in the service. I made several calls to them, the first inquiring about pricing, the second to place an order and the third to change the order. When I called back for the third time I was surprised to learn that the order I had placed was “lost” and they had no record of me speaking with anyone. Luckily I called back, or we would have had no food!
That being said, the food we received was fantastic. We ordered the meatballs, roast beef, potato salad, and several other trays. The food was hot, carried out to the car from the store, and tasted great. Possibly the best potato salad I’ve ever ordered.
I’m willing to accept that our order issue may have been a mistake, although it seems others have had issues with the catering service as well.

I have been here a several times since it opened in DT WC. And I have come to the conclusion they are really talented at making the food look good but is very average at best. The pizza is bland and boring. I got a portabella sandwich the last time I was there and it was nearly viod of a filling. The deli person said he didnt know how to make the sandwich-that was my fault for letting him make it anyway.
Oh well…right?! 3 strikes and you out!!! -
I love Carlinos! They are so friendly and helpful in there. The food is always good. I love the eggplant rolitini, chicken salad, fresh squeezed OJ, and the bakery is always awesome! I ordered a cake from there for a b-day party and it was not only beautiful but it was also delicious! Great place!!!

Tried the alleged ‘award’ winning italian hoagie and the pork/broccoli rabe hoagie. Meats on the italian were good quality and it was a good sandwich. The pork suffered tremendously as it lacked flavor and was so dry. My other party didn’t know it was pork. Hmm. Mystery meat. Tried two salads. I give credit for the freshness, but they must be salt and season your own salads. The bag they give you to carry out your food is nice. I will try their cheeses next time I go and keep the sandwiches to Primo’s.

Sunday brunch was very good. Had Perfecto Pancakes with Berries. Dish had nice presentation and tasted delicious. The fellow behind the back counter who made my dish was professional and friendly. Would definitely go
back again. -
Over the past holiday I had a most enjoyable party which was catered by Carlino’s. The catering coordinator was so helpful selecting the appropriate appetizers, entrees and desserts. My guests were raving about the food and even my fussy husband enjoyed everything that was served. I cannot wait for another occasion celebrate with Calino’s.

MCB, that’s a shame that you did not have a good experience because my experience with Carlino’s has been GREAT!
I have had several events (including a holiday party this year) catered by them and I have been very pleased. The staff was very knowledgable, helpful and pleasant.
I can’t say enough about the wonderful market! I have been a customer of the Ardmore store for many years and now come to West Chester (it’s a bit closer to my house). Some of my favorite things are the cheeses, pastries, prepared foods, pizza, homemade pasta, sauces.. I could go on forever! It’s a wonderland of food!
The family is always on hand and it shows. It is a truly rare thing to see these days! -
When I hired Carlino’s Catering Service this December(2008) for my Companies Holiday Party, I was confident I would be receiving top-notch quality food and service. Unfortunately, I was sorely disappointed on both accounts and terribly embarrassed in front of my boss and co-workers. I realize that every event is bound to have certain mishaps, but this event was a disaster. The cuts of meat were comparable to the size of a Denny’s Special and every plate was served cold. However, the most disheartening part of the entire experience was Carlino’s complete lack of interest in hearing my grievances after the event. Company Event Planners Beware: Save your Company’s hard-earned money and save your self a lot of humiliation… Hire another Caterer!

I’m in this store 5 out of 7 days of the week. I can’t say enough about this store, and its employees! Other than the wonderful aroma of fresh-squeezed OJ that hits you when you walk thru the doors, here are just a few things that keep me coming back for more:
Fresh pizza dough! $3.00 – can’t beat it.
Berri-misu! Signature dessert that cannot be missed.
Homemade fresh pasta! So many, your eyes bug out.
Sausage in sauce. Mouthwatering!
Hoagies on chewy/crusty bread = dee-lish!
Homemade vanilla biscotti. Buttery goodness.
Cheese, GLORIOUS cheese!
I’ve yet to dine-in, and I usually buy ingredients to do my own homecooking. They are the freshest around.
Please, Carlino’s. Don’t get too big for your britches and cut corners to save a buck. If we’ll pay $5.00 for a 1/2 gal of milk in your store, we’ll keep buying your awesome foods. Ciao!

Our family has never been disappointed at Carlino’s. Have bought from the Ardmore store for years and was so excited to hear you were coming to WC. Never used the catering as we are “hard-core” Italians and prefer to do the cooking at home, but everything from the sausage, cream of balsamic infusion, and the bellavitano cheese are incredible. Tonight we are trying the pizza…we’ll let you know.
mangia! Buon cibo, buon vino, buoni amici. -
CHEEEEEESE!!! Oh so many wonderful cheeses. I am thrilled to have so many wonderful specialty foods all in walking distance.

Carlino’s recently catered my daughters wedding shower. I ordered off the take out menu and was offered suggestions and helpful ideas from the office staff. I went in that afternoon to pick up my order and everything was ready to go. I thought I might have had to wait since I ordered something from every department! It didn’t take long in line and they even carried everything to my car. My friends and I thought the food was wonderful and everything looked beautiful. Best of all was the “thrilled” look on my daughters face! It was a perfect day thanks in great part to Carlino’s. I will defintely be using Carlino’s for all my special occasions!

The catering here is a huge let down considering the rest of the store. I placed 3 different orders in the span of a week for my wedding celebration. Each time, the staff were very unfriendly, service was very slow (I had ordered ahead, so it was just going in the back to get the food), the platters did not match the description on the menu and when I pointed this out, they tried to argue about the description, small requests (i.e. peppers with my sandwich platter) were very difficult to fulfill, and the price was higher than other locations that I looked at. It is definitely worth the drive to A Cut Above in Newtown Square for their take out catering options…the food and service is outstanding.

Been here many times since it opened. Even when busy, staff tries to be helpful and doesn’t treat you shabbily.
Food selection is nice–extensive cheeses, fresh pastas, homemade sauces, and amazing breads. While I tend to prefer making my own meals at home with fabulous ingredients, I can admit to being pleased with their selection of prepared foods. They even have a good number of healthy selections. And the Hoagies really are fabulous–the bread really makes it.
I don’t recommend eating in the very cramped seating area–the doors are right there and arctic blasts hit you each time someone opens them. This seems to be the only part of the plan they hadn’t thought through.

Though the pre-made food is GREAT. the best part is we finally (again) have a market in the bourgh! Milk, Veggies, some (very limited) boxed stuff, but you can walk and get what you need!
Back to Premade.. AWESOME Pasta and breads! Can’t say enough for that 5pm “what do we get for dinner” panic. Everything you need one place.

HEY MMMMANGIA, FYI to you and to everyone, I have been eating hoagies for a long time and The Best Hoagie around is down the street at The Works..Your right the roll means everything and at the Works they make their own rolls!! You need to try their Hoagies…sorry Tonys and carlinos, but the Works has the best!!! To expensive at Carlinos too!!!

Pete, FYI Tony’s Market on Gay Street has been making an excellent hoagie with proscuitto on it for 15 years it’s the Ken’s Special! They put the extra sharp provolone y’know the kind that bites back on it too. They also roast their own green peppers in olive oil hot and sweet so, you have the option of topping off your Special with either or both.
The roll, which is oh so important is from The Conshohocken Bakery – the best Italian bread that I’ve found in the area. Tony’s is the best Italian Italian hoagie I’ve ever had in PA., but I’ll be sure to try Carlino’s and compare. -
I used Carlino’s to cater an event at my house for about 50 guests. Overall, the food quality was good; however, the service was horrible. I contracted to pick up my order “hot” at 2:30 but when I arrived at 2:30 I was told it was not yet ready and would be another “15 minutes”…1 hour later they delivered it to me…and forgot to bring the dessert. If catering for a large event, you may want to look elsewhere as this only added to an already stressful situation.

It’s just a food wonderland! I could spend hours strolling the aisles marveling at their selection of goodies. I used to shop at the Ardmore store several years ago, and was thrilled to see them opening here! We attended a recent party catered by Carlino’s, and the food was yummy, beautifully displayed (salads, proscuitto and melon, thick pizza, panninis) and prepared with first-class, fresh ingredients. I picked up items for a quick dinner last week–chicken and proscuitto tortellini and a rose sauce–easy and delicious. We will be regulars!

I love this place! I stopped by last Sunday morning and found it surprisingly crowded, which is always a good sign. They have EVERYTHING. I wandered around aimlessly for about a half-hour, marveling at all the homemade soups, sauces, pastries…you name it. The cheese counter has countless varieties and you can even sample some of the huge parmesan wheels. I ended up getting one of their freshly-made Italian hoagies which had PROSCIUTTO on it (sadly, this is a rarity when you order an Italian hoagie anywhere else). I also picked up a bottle of Boylan’s Black Cherry Soda (also a rare treat). The service was very friendly, and it seems their employees are proud to be working there. If you haven’t been yet, check out Carlino’s. You won’t be disappointed!

We sat down at Carlino’s this past weekend for a bite- my boyfriend tried one of the Italian Hoagies and gave it a big thumbs up. I had one of the made-to-order-as-you-watch omelettes with Spinach, Provolone Cheese and Roasted Red Peppers (they have many other ingredients you can choose from). We ate at one of the tables provided in the check out area.(They also have tables outside in front of the market for warmer days). The omelette was heavenly! I believe they make them until 11am and then the area turns into a Pasta Bar.
The fresh squeezed OJ was a nice touch and I was able to get it by the cup to go with my meal. The omelettes are not to be missed! -
We are in for a big treat when Carlino’s opens in WC! The food at the location in Ardmore is OUTSTANDING! Great takeout place!
Watch out WC when this place arrives! YUMMO!
