Check out this new West Chester spot! Rumor has it they have the BEST cheesesteaks in Philly! Maybe it’s because they bake their rolls in-house daily. They certainly are “on a roll!” Get it? Get it?

WC Dish recommends: The chicken cheese steak… with the works (oh how appropriate.)

I wonder, how could a restaurant with such a great location, and good sandwiches could fail, even in this economy. I know their service could be slow but come-on. There must be a story.
Reminds me of Lew’s NY Deli which opeed in Paoli last year to long lines but closed six week later. Yes long lines by 11:45 AM for lunch and closed in six weeks. Anyone know why? I don’t. Another place with slow service. I guess you have to make a lot of sandwiches at lunch to pay yoour rent. At least Fresh Works lasted more than six weeks!

    RIP

I can tell you exactly why the place shut down. No service, no leadership whatsoever. I went in for a cheesesteak and fries, called ahead mind you. It took the 10-15 minutes they told me about, plus another 20 minutes I stood there. And as I stood there, the girl texted away. No leadership. The food is not good enough to put up with that garbage. See you in hell works!

I have tried them all and this is the best place to get a cheesteak in West Chester. In fact, probably one of the best I have ever had.

I usually go into the works about 2 or 3 times a week. The food is average but it’s the service that makes that place great. I was very upset today when I saw that the last of my favorite smiling girls was not there to take my order. I was then told that she no longer work there. Not only was I not greeted with a smile but I also waited about 15 minutes for a sandwich that would any other day take 2 minutes. I am very disappointed and if you go there often and enjoy seeing familiar faces… you will be disappointed as well.

by far the best cheesesteak in the area! I’d rank them up there with Philly places like Daleassandro’s, Larry’s Famous, and even Tony Luke’s.

    Dear Joe Ross and Staff,
Thank you so much for your outstanding food and service!

Your staff took great care of us and the food was scrumptious! (I especially loved my cheesesteak).

It was our group’s first time in your restuarant we appreciated all you did for us.

All of us really felt at home.

We will be regulars from now on.

The Fresh Works is one of the most well respected steak and hoagie shops in Philly. The quality of the food speaks for itself. The Fresh Works in Westchester in particular is one of the best! Joe Ross the owner is one of most likeable people you will meet. He takes pride in his shop, the quality of food it put out and most of all he makes sure the service is top notch.
    My Top 3 Recks
Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak or the wings
    **The wing sauce is awesome!
    The Cheesesteak of course!
**Go with the Double Cheesteak with Xtra cheese delicious!

PS If your having a party this is the place to go a couple hoagie trays and some wings is the way to satisfy a hungry group of sports enthusiasts

Fresh Works=AWESOME plain and simple. I’ve been dining there regularly since their advent in West Chester, and I have not been anything less than amazed with any item I ordered, regardless of what it may be. Menu has a HUGE variety, but the Cheesesteaks really are the best. As is true with many cheesesteaks, the roll can make or break the sandwich, and Fresh Works homemade rolls DEFINITELY make it!

Laid back, casual atmosphere; no joke good food, and friendly service make it a great stop for a great meal any time of day. And being open til 3 on fri and sat make it great for after the bars!!

We’ve had their three-foot hoagies delivered for a graduation party – and they were very well received by all! The rolls are excellent and the hoagies were packed.

Good choice for getting food for a casual party!

Review Guidelines
Be Respectful. Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?

Although the old saying, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all," is swell, we encourage constructive feedback (ie, be polite), and recommend backing-up your comments with evidence/witnesses.

Be Honest. Look where it got Abe Lincoln. Well, before the evening at the theater.

We don't recommend complaining just for the sake of it (see number 1), but if you have a legitimate comment, it should be shared. Also, don't hesitate to disagree with other comments, even if your opinion is in the minority. If patrons aren't honest about their experiences, restaurants won't know that there is room for improvement. And there always is.

Be Specific. "The food was good" doesn't cut it.

Each dining experience is unique, so if a dining experience moves you in any way, by all means, share the details. Choose the sensory details that impacted your experience the most and describe them in your postings. Other foodies will gobble it up—literally.

Be Concise. 'Nuf said.

What? We thought it was pretty clear the first time.

Be Helpful. Sort of like how the elves and reindeer help Santa.

Will what you have to say improve the restaurant's ability to provide impeccable service and improve the dining experience for others (again, see number 1)? If so... help away.

Show a Little Pride. No Jane or John Does please.

If you are too embarrassed to put your name as the commenter, you probably should re-evaluate your comments (you know the drill... see number 1). If you have sensitive information that you feel needs to be passed along, please use your best judgment and e-mail it to us to avoid public posting. We don't want you to have any post-post regrets.

Don't Name Names. Let's not get too personal here.

We know you want to share your experiences, both good and bad, but this isn't the place to publicly condemn or praise individual people. Feel free to comment on "the service", "the chef", or "the staff", but any positive or negative mention of specific names will be moderated.
