Just had a fabulous meal at High Street Caffé.

Appetizers: Blackened alligator & Voodoo Crawfish. The alligator was terrific — and the Crawfish were even more extraordinary! A meal in itself (and next time probably will be) in a deep, dark rich stock that is magnificently hot.

Then the main course: my wife has the lobster ravioli with crabmeat and scallops. The ravioli themselves were lovely, but the scallops and crabmeat were the real highlights of the dish. The scallops were large and beautifully browned, and the crabmeat were big lumps of sweet backfin meat. The sauce was mild but flavorful.

My main course was crawfish, shrimp and scallops étoufée. Once again, hot — and once again, magnificent. I couldn’t eat it all, especially after generous tasting portions of the lobster ravioli, so we took it home and can’t wait to eat it for lunch tomorrow.

The High Street Caffé is a gustatory delight. Love it!

Unfortunately I have to say that I was severely disappointed in my first visit to the High Street Caffe. To start, we had a 20 top and gave them plenty of time to prepare but once we go there they had us at two separate tables. They also had only two servers working and it took forever to get drinks food etc. Our server took drink orders one at a time and would often ignore others trying to get her attn. to order another. The food was good but not worth the price tag that came with it. However the worst part of the evening was the heat. They said the AC was on max, but the restaurant was sweltering. I sweat through my shirt and some of us were going OUTSIDE to cool off. It was truly uncomfortable and made it difficult to actually enjoy the food. Ultimately they need to fix thier AC, higher more/better servers and prepare better for large parties.

As a long time Diner, I have to say… High Street never ceases to amaze. This is hands down the best restaurant in WC. The Food and the Service have always been outstanding. As for Bob, definitely one of those people you can never please and just needs something to complain about. Come on Bob…Like MJ ” Take A Look At Youself And Then Make A Change”

  4. fredMay 22, 2009

Call about corkage before you go. It changes often.

My ex-wife and I have dined at the High Street Cafe every weekend for 11 years. We love the staff, and the food is always perfect! We recently divorced, and always run into each other there with our dates. Guess we’ll have to go back to court to see who gets legal custody of our favorite restaurant.

After reading these reviews I have a famous few words for Des and WC Bob. Who calls themselves WC BOB anyway? LOL
” I wish people were smart for 60 seconds, so they can see how stupid they really are!!”.
I know this place very well and have been dining there for 13 years!! 13 years!! Not many places are going strong after 13 years-PERIOD!! Sometimes people make mistakes-doctors,lawyers,athletes and yes people in the restaurant biz. The owner is a humble and generous man-not a kid-lol . For someone that toured the world with Bon Jovi playing in front of 40,000 people a night-I would say he is very humble!! Enough said-Rock On High street-can’t wait for the new place to open-VUDU!!!!!!!!

Love High Street Caffe’! Great experience always… Glad to be part of the High Street family! The people that left negative comments were angry before they came through the door… good luck managing all of your hostility. Thanks to Mr. Syracuse and the High St crew for all of the great times! PURA VIDA!

I dined at this establishment a couple years back and I have to say the pasta dish I had was mouth watering,a total treat to my taste buds.I recently read the reviews because I wanted to go back and try it out again. After reading what WC Bob wrote,I,unfortunately have to agree with Bob’s description of the owner. Even though you are running a cafe in the heart of West Chester, you are just a kid from Delaware County, No better than anyone else and surely not on a higher plane than the rest of us. Treat customers with respect and be grateful that people are even walking through those doors and gracing YOU with THEIR presence. I have to be honest, the food was great but its a shame that the attitude of owner has never changed. I am suprised that the poor kids in Cuba did not make you a bit more humble. Remember where you came from

I have been dining at High Street for 13 yrs. Whether it be two of us, or 15 of my family members at once, the food, service, and atmosphere is always second-to-none. Simply stated…. the best!

Awesome food! Great Energy! Good Times!! You never know what you might see in High Street, but you know you’re going to have fun and leave stuffed!

In regards to the owner, Don Syracuse, I’ve got nothing but high praises. The man has a heart of gold. He’d do anything for just about anyone.

Keep the faith! Fight the good fight! and keep on rocking, Donny! You are a hero in Latin America!!!!

As a former chef, I absolutely suggest this restaurant to anyone and everyone! and if you haven’t been here yet, I only have one question for you: “what the hell are you waiting for?!!”

  11. DarylMay 15, 2009

Yet another amazing meal at High St! Somehow this place is batting .1000, and we’ve got a lot of at-bats! Tremendous drinks, friendly and attentive staff and food that is so good I never hesitate to pick High St as my “big night out” place to eat. Whether it’s chicken etoufee, jambalaya, filet mignon, tilapia, chicken/andouille gumbo or the spinach salad, it’s perfect everytime. Ownerman Donny is always on site to see to it that the experience is first class. I’ve NEVER gotten even a hint of the vibe described by WC Bob in his review. “Maybe the dark is from your eyes”. If you want to impress anyone take them here and head up to Vincents in West Chester afterwards.

  12. John DennisMay 15, 2009

The High Street Caffe is definitely one of my all time favorites. It is one of the few restaurants that “gets it.” The proprietor’s great attitude goes through the staff and servers right onto your plate. It is a great, fun and relaxed place to have meal or should I say “culinary orgasm.” I have been going there since it opened and I use any excuse to travel the 90 minutes to get there to have Chef Wenner’s Crawfish Etouffee, some blackened alligator and finish it off with some pecan pie or bananas foster. (my mouth is watering all over the keyboard @ this point)It fact, when my wife threw me a party she couldn’t bring everyone there(she tried)so she ordered up a couple hundred pounds of that great stuff to bring home! I can’t wait to go back, it’s been too long.

Thank you High Street Caffe for all the wonderful memories through the years. Truly the best West Chester has to offer; outstanding staff, attentive and caring service, DELICIOUS food (Bananas Fosters) and an owner that aims to please every single person that walks through.
    Thanks guys, see you soon.

High Street Caffe is DELICIOUS. Amazing food, friendly service, and an outstanding owner! I live in Guatemala, and I swear I crave HSC’s Cajun Salad everyday!… and a couple martini’s =]

  16. TMay 15, 2009

I have been going to High St. Cafe for 13 years. I have celebrated everything from New Years Eve, birthday’s, graduation, etc… and have ALWAYS had a wonderful meal and a GREAT time. I have worked in many restaurants in WC and I have never worked for a more wonderful person who deeply cares for his establishment, his employees and his customers. You won’t find anyone better or anything better than High St. Cafe!!

  17. Jennifer ShawMay 15, 2009

If you are considering a night out at High Street, congratulations!

Do not let one bad review turn you away. You would be missing out on a unique, and delicious dining experience. The food is always to die for, and there is always PLENTY of it! Depending on when you go, the atmosphere ranges from mellow (early)to jumping (later!) but never arrogant, “higher than thou”, or hurried. Donny, Chef Wenner, and the staff are always eager to please and often going above & beyond what you’d expect. They take pride in their restaurant and it shows. If you like things more mellow, then make an earlier reservation! If you’re not afraid of a little noise, and a hopping atmosphere, then make your res. later! Either way, great food (and great, creative cocktails, beer and wine selection, if that’s your thing!) is guaranteed.

Some menu suggestions? The bisque is always delicious, and a great starter with the Cajun Popcorn Caesar Salad. The Stuffed Mushroom is one of my favorites too. The crabcake alone is so good (made with mostly crab, and easy on the “filler”) but paired with the portabella and the creole mustard.. oh my..
You can’t go wrong with any of their steaks or pastas, chicken or seafood either! I just can’t pick a favorite because it’s all so good. The servers know the food well too, and can always help you with your choice.
Make sure you end with the Bananas Foster. It’s a little bit of heaven. (Okay, maybe a lot)

In response to WCBob- your gripes sound personal to me. Also YOU sound like the one acting “high & mighty”. It’s sad you had to add insult to injury, cause you know you will be craving that jambalaya…And where will you get it?

  18. Steve NanniMay 15, 2009

I have been frequenting High Street Café for over 8 years now. The service is impeccable and every detail is taken into consideration. The wait staff are all veterans and class A type of individuals who wants to always please the customer and do everything in their power to make your experience one to never forget. The manager, who Bob, is not Donny, is truly one of the nicest guys I know, who always aims to please especially when it comes to one of his famous homemade deserts. Who for anyone that cares, are phenomenal, and unlike 99% of other restaurants out there, are ALL homemade.
Moving onto the music which just makes the place what it is…High Street. High Street Café, great food and great music, which never once have I had to complain about a noise level. I would rather him turn it up so I could hear what a huge talent Dave really is, which by the way, can be seen and heard all over the city playing in my other high end bars and restaurants. The ambiance is fun, great people, wine, great food, drinks. If you want a quiet restaurant with no people there are plenty other restaurants to go to but this is not one of them.
Donny who each time I have opened the door, treated me like a first class guest in his establishment, is one of the most humble, honest, giving person I have ever known in my life. He is an individual who always aims to please and is seen walking around mingling and making sure each guest is having an experience where when they leave his restaurant and just amazed by the flavors in their mouth they just experience.
Hey Bob what is your last name buddy? Come on….give us something to laugh about the next time we are in High Street sucking down some vino, listening to Dave rip it up, enjoying spicy crab app’s, and slicing into some medium rare hanger steak.

    Cheers Donny –

High Street is by far, the BEST restaurant in the Philly area and my personal favorite. I recently moved to California and always make sure this is my first stop when I come home. The food, wine list, live music, atmosphere, EVERYTHING about this place is what a good restaurant should be. The owner always keeps us entertained and makes us feel at home, even in the midst of a busy saturday night. WC Bob, you’re clearly one of those customers that is just never satisfied and you chose the wrong restaurant to mess with. Don- your restaurant is simply amazing and there is a reason why you are still so successful after 13+ years. Keep doing what you’re doing and I cant wait until I come home to have some tuna, spicy crab salad, gumbo, pecan chix & shrimp, and most importantly BANANAS FOSTER. You rock!

  20. PeteMay 15, 2009

Best food in West Chester hands down. The food, atmosphere and music are second to none, in fact you cant get this experience in WC period!! The veggie saute’ is excellent!!! Best WC dining experience for sure.

  21. Bill ShehwenMay 15, 2009

High Street is a great restaurant with the BEST food. I’ve been going there for 10 years and have never found a flaw. Simply the best.

WC Bob, the cowardly (and not surprisingly, anonymous) HSC basher, is the quintessential “impossible customer”. I’ve worked in the restaurant business for years and years, and although your ultimate goal is to please your customers, there are some that are simply miserable human beings that should just stay home and microwave a hot pocket. Bob, small businesses and the communities they service, are better off if people like you didn’t bother going out. Do us all a favor and buy a horse, a tent and a lantern and and move up to the mountains. You are not welcome here anymore and I am embarrassed for your family.

    thank you for your cooperation

Put down the peace pipe BOB! High Street Caffe is the best restaurant I’ve ever eaten at!!! In fact, at this very moment in time, I’m craving a Hangar Steak with blue cheese crumbles.

Seriously, if anyone’s reading this… get on the phone and make reservations for High Street. You will not be disappointed. Hands down best restaurant in WC!!

High Street Café has this unique combination of small town service and big city taste. My husband and I frequent this restaurant often and have NEVER had a bad experience. In fact, over the past 8 years I have had the pleasure and yes it is a pleasure of getting to know the wait staff, and the owner. All of which take extreme pride in their work, their service and their customers. I have yet to visit a restaurant where the owner will pull up a chair and have a chat with you, just to make sure your night is going well. The place is a Gem and WC Bob, it’s my humble opinion that you are indeed, WRONG.

  24. Kathi GuarnereMay 15, 2009

HSC is absolutely one of my top restaurants of all times. My family has every family celebration there, & have always had incredible & prompt service. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a great meal & a great time in the area, & they always come back to me with kudos, & never a negative thing to say.
The owner is the most genuine host I’ve encountered & makes a point to make you feel like he will be happy to make sure your experience is a great one.
Don’t let the single negative review on this page sway you at all. Honestly, in over 13 years of eating here, that is the first I have ever heard of someone not loving it.

  25. Michele HopkinsMay 15, 2009

High Street Cafe is one of the BEST if not the BEST restaurants in West Chester. As a West Chester local all my life, I have dined there since it has opened and have been impressed each and every time. I moved to Philadelphia about 8 years ago and with all the many food choices available to me in the city, I still rank High Street as one of my favorite restaurants. The menu selection is diverse, the portions perfect, and the atmosphere out of this world!
In response to WC Bob, I couldn’t disagree with you more about the owner. He is one of the kindest people I have ever met. He takes pride in his restaurant, and he should. How many owners do you know that are present as often as he is. The truth is you cant make everyone happy and it seems that you WC Bob are one of those people who will never be happy.

  26. DonnySyracuseMay 15, 2009

In response to west chester Bob’s article-i would like to say that after 13 years of running a highly rated Zagat awarded restaurant, I usually understand people’s mood’s and feeling’s. However, this guy was upset with problems that didn’t make sense to me or 2 of my 15 year veteran servers?? Q: Bob you wanted a certain seat on one of the busiest days of the year because last year the jazz was too loud?A: We provided you with the seat you asked for closest to the window. The Jazz was not loud and was not even in the main speaker system!!! Then after 15 minutes of what i thought was resolving a seat issue-you got upset? However, was there a seating issue? What was the real problem here-personal??? My staff said you were pissing and moaning upon arrival?? At first you said you loved the Sashima Tuna -then as your blood pressure skyrocketed you said it “Sucked”. A million people a year come through our doors and rave about the food-i guess were sorry Bob if it didn’t meet your tastebuds. If there is something wrong with a dish (temperature) 99% of consumers will let their server know?? I asked you why you didn’t tell the server and you danced around the subject?? Restaurant employees can’t read minds??We are HUMAN!! I really don’t know where the whole “Nuke” thing comes from. I plated your Jambalaya straight from the saute pan and it was HOT when it left the kitchen!! I’m not going to waste anymore time adressing this. I will gladly give you your $23 dollars – I think maybe you need to come down to earth and realize what a true problem is-I simply said that some people in this world aren’t as fortunate as many americans and are starving everyday!! That’s why i shared the story of me helping poor latin americans on vacation. Sorry you had a bad mother’s day- Thanks for stiffing my staff with NO TIP!! No worries i gave them a 25% tip from you so they can buy their babies diapers!!

  27. FenwickMay 13, 2009

Oh my, WC Bob! What an unfortunate experience at a true West Chester institution. I would have said that it was because it was Mother’s Day, which is such a Ya-Ya No to judge a restaurant by, but the comments from the owner alone would have me running for the door.

  28. WC Bob - NEVER GO HERE!!May 12, 2009

Our family has held all of our annual celebrations at High Street for the past 3 years. The past few times we have noticed that the establishment has strayed off-mark. Service has become unbearable (it had always been relaxed, but almost a 25 minutes for drink refills, 1.5 hours for our meal, and another 30 minutes for our check after we refused desert) and after concluding our Mother’s Day dinner with a slightly heated conversation with the owner I will make sure to not only share how disappointed we were, but to also make you aware of how arrogant the owner of this place really is.
It was Mother’s Day and like every other Mother’s Day for the past three years it was assumed where we would go. Only this time it was with a slight hesitation. Our last trip to High Street Cafe a few months back was very disappointing, from the messed up reservation, the poor service and the guitar player who insisted on playing one notch higher than anyone trying to enjoy a conversation with their party. As familiar this place has become to our typical family gatherings, we said nothing and just felt it was an off night for everyone. So feeling that our last trip was just an off-night we decided to move forward with our plans for Mother’s Day.
Upon arriving, we were greeted at the door by an employee. I told them my name and than was told our table was right in front of us, in the middle of the restaurant, as you first walked into the door. Because of our last issue with the sound and my family unable to hear each other I made sure over the phone for the reservations that we would receive a table along the wall. I explained why and explained the importance of this seating arrangement. The person over the phone went a step further to say, “Well how about I put you on one of the side tables in front of the window?” I agreed and ended our conversation. When I brought this up to the employee she said in a very ignorant tone, “Well that’s not going to happen! Those tables just sat down.” We waited for about twenty minutes and finally got a table along the side. Hoping to keep our mom happy we kindly thanked them for accommodating us and hope to move on from this little episode. From this point is where everything really went downhill.
It took over twenty minutes to even get a drink list, than another twenty minutes to get our drinks ordered. By the time we got our appetizers ordered our drinks were half gone and by the time we received them they were basically empty. We waited a little more than twenty minutes for the server to even come over to ask if we needed refills. By now the appetizers were gone. We finally got our refills and about 30 minutes later our food finally came out. My mom’s jambalaya was cold. It was cold to the touch and taste. When we told our server she said, “Well I can take it back and warm it up real fast.” When you pay 23 dollars for a plate of rice and chicken, the last thing you want is for it to be “nuked”. We continued to have issues with things all night and asked to speak to the owner who because of the size of his establishment serves as the manager.
After we received our check and the server swipe the card we decided to ask when the owner would be over. We were told he is busy and would be right out. We knew that he was simply hiding behind the bar wall waiting for us to leave. As we got up to leave my father and I decided to approach him and question our importance as satisfied customers. His response was the most ridiculous thing I had ever heard. He told us well we don’t understand things. He just got back Cuba where he “threw little poor kids guitar strings and money because that’s the type of person I am.” and “they just appreciate to get food on their plates” and “You wouldn’t understand since you wouldn’t be able to go there.” I responded with that has nothing to do with how horrible everything was and your lack of concern for our situation. He continued to ramble on with cocky and arrogant comments telling us that we should just be happy that he allowed us to eat in his establishment because we are not as worthy of humans as he is, and we as part of the normal crowd don’t deserve good service or fresh food. I kid you not; he really spoke of himself so highly. Finally after all of his insults my dad decided to throw an insult his way by saying, “The food sucked!” He got so mad that my dad had the nerve to criticize his food after he had no problem with attacking our characters and labeling us as “not good enough”. This is where the conversation escalated to the point where we said “Thank you and we will never be back” and left. It was now after ten. It took three whole hours for appetizers and dinner. This man needs to be brought back to earth and shown he is as human as any of us. I understand that many of you may go and enjoy your time, but just remember about how the owner views you, and that is that you are lucky to have the privilege to dine in his establishment. I could have added much more to our conversation or for that part our whole experience, but it would go on for pages and pages. I will just say this, there were NO positives about this experience!!

I have been eating here for over 10 years , I love it ….this is my “go to” restaurant …never fails …I do wish the chef would bring back some of the more envelope pushing entrees but I never have a bad meal and the drinks are always strong and delicious

I have to say I just had the BEST meal at High Street Caffe ever, It was the Special Beer food pairing dinner and it was GREAT. I have never had a bad meal at this place EVER. THE FOOD is the BEST around and in my mind this place put WC on the map for great places to go and eat..

The only experience I have with this type of food is that my husband and I went on a Crawdaddy’s kick years back. We loved it so much, went so often, and ate the exact same food every time, we got burned out. We kind of forgot about it and haven’t been back for maybe 7 years. I was excited to try HSC because of the great reviews. We had the fixed price menu. 1st course was the Cajun popcorn because we used to get it at Crawdaddys. It was good except the sauce was SO overwhelmingly sweet. The Etoufee was yuck. I just didn’t like it at all (I remember loving it at Crawdaddys). The best thing was the pecan pie. YUM! It was perfectly sweetened, unlike most pecan pies. I’m going to have to go back to Crawdaddy’s to really compare.

The High Street is my # 1 go to restaurant in the area. They offer the best lunch in town and their dinners are second only to Gilmores (which is a lot pricier). They now offer a full bar but will still let you bring your own wine with a small corkage charge.
Cashew Chicken, Cajun Cheese Steaks and Burgers are great for lunch along with any of their daily specials.
Lobster Raviolis are my dinner favorite although any of the specials are great and don’t forget the Jambolaya and Etouphe{?}. Happy Dining

We took my father-in-law and sister-in-law here for dinner because we had heard such amazing things. We had a terrible experience. The service was extremely poor. The waitress only took drink orders one time. She never came to check on us or our meals after we placed our orders. The place was crowded and noisy. Also, the food was second rate especially compared to the great eats we’ve had at Crawdaddy’s. We won’t be rushing back here any time soon, or ever.

  37. MattiferJun 04, 2008

Never a bad meal, the staff is always on top of things but always gives us time to relax. We crave the alligator sausage. Always a great place to celebrate a special occassion.

I have lived in the borough for a number of years now and whenever people from outside the area visit or ask for a recommendation, I always recommend High St Cafe or Spence. I’ve never been disappointed. They are consistent and the food is excellent. The space can be cramped and loud and their “system”(?) of taking reservations is questionable, but the food is always a winner.

One of the best dinners in Chester County!

Hello All, first I would like to say HST you gotta be a single woman that cant get a date LOL The High Street Cafe is a great place to eat, It is the most consistent restaurant that I have ever been to, I have never had a bad meal there, My fav is the Jambalaya Fettuccine with Chicken, Crawfish and Andouille, They took that dish off the menu but I always ask if they can make it for me and they do without any problem at all…If something is messed up why dont you peeps say something to the wait staff(be it service or food) I for one am not perfect and I do speak up if something is not right with the service or food at any restaurant, I have never had bad service or food at this place..Here’s a big booyaa to yaa High Street KEEP UP THE GREAT JOB

I’ve also been eating at High St. for years. Always loved the ambiance and good food. While the meals have never been consistent (I’ve had the same meal taste/appear very differently almost every time I’ve eaten there), they were always high quality. My last meal there, a few months ago, was however deeply troubling. First, the prices have jumped considerably. The “cajun signature” of jambalya and etouffee have been buried on the back of the menu (perhaps due to their lower cost?)
My favorite meal had been removed/upgraded which was disappointing. I ordered the newly altered dish and it was NOT GOOD. Salty, undercooked, pitiful. To be fair, the apps and dessert were great.
I haven’t returned for a few months. Hoping this was just a random bad experience. We’ll let you know after the next visit.

We just had lunch here this week. The previous comments regarding poor service are right on the dime. We were a group of 3 and felt invisible. We waited a long time for our orders. Realistically, the food was average.

I have been eating at the high street caffe for 11 years-and it is always amazing!! From the crab bisque, ostrich, buffalo and wild boar-i have never been dissapointed. I guess thats why i always see celebrities like tim lake from channel 10 and the weather girl cecily tynan there.
As for the guy that didn’t like the johhny Cash burger-i guess he misread the menu because it is topped with Voodoo sauce (habenero flakes in a BBQ sauce)!! It’s my favorite i get it all the time usually in 10 minutes-LOL my service is always great!! Keep up the good work high street-now i can even get a great beer with my burger.Older folks beware the VOODOO sauce.

We have visited this restaurant several times and the food has always been consistently delicious, but we were very disappointed with the poor service on 9/22, and thus will not be returning. Our waitress and busboy were scarce and inattentive. We were told we had to put in our entire order at one time, she dropped things off at our table (dessert menu’s, check, boxes) with no comment, conversation, or question as to how things were, and as we were finishing our drinks the busboy told us that they needed the table and we had to leave. Very disappointing…

have never taken anyone to high street that didn’t want to go back afterwards…this place is an all-time fav and has been for me since it opened!

The place was recommended to us by coworkers so my wife and I went there for lunch today. I must say that we were both disappointed both with service and food.
Even though it was lunchtime, the pace was not full. About 25 min wait for a Johnny Cash hamburger – I think that is too much. Only one vegetarian dish on the menu? Come on. We had to chase our server to find out what happened to our order and later to pay the bill. Mind you the place was not that busy.

When food finally came, it was screwed up. The hamburger had a ton of pepper in it. Simply said, it tasted foul. After two bites I gave up. The hamburger came with 5 nachos covered with imitation cheese and a leaf of lettuce. Wife’s vegetarian dish consisted of a French roll stuffed with soggy veggies. Yuck!

For sure, I won’t be recommending this place to anyone. Poor service and food quality.

I would have to say after years of eating at High Street, the service and food quality make it he best restaurant in town! The Spicy Crab Cocktail is the best!

Great food! Alligator sausage is great. Also, had a blankened tuna steak with crawfish augrautin that was one of the best meals I’ve ever had.
    Staff is very friendly.
Atmosphere is very cool but tables a bit close together.

One of my all time favorite West Chester rest. I have never had a bad dish there and were there at least monthly.

The best appetizer around is the stuffed mushroom comes stuffed with a crab cake. Very Good!

Only miss the home made jalapeno ice cream….

The Jambalaya salad here is to die for, but the Voodoo Crawfish will always hold an especially warm place in my heart…er, stomach!

Review Guidelines
Be Respectful. Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?

Although the old saying, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all," is swell, we encourage constructive feedback (ie, be polite), and recommend backing-up your comments with evidence/witnesses.

Be Honest. Look where it got Abe Lincoln. Well, before the evening at the theater.

We don't recommend complaining just for the sake of it (see number 1), but if you have a legitimate comment, it should be shared. Also, don't hesitate to disagree with other comments, even if your opinion is in the minority. If patrons aren't honest about their experiences, restaurants won't know that there is room for improvement. And there always is.

Be Specific. "The food was good" doesn't cut it.

Each dining experience is unique, so if a dining experience moves you in any way, by all means, share the details. Choose the sensory details that impacted your experience the most and describe them in your postings. Other foodies will gobble it up—literally.

Be Concise. 'Nuf said.

What? We thought it was pretty clear the first time.

Be Helpful. Sort of like how the elves and reindeer help Santa.

Will what you have to say improve the restaurant's ability to provide impeccable service and improve the dining experience for others (again, see number 1)? If so... help away.

Show a Little Pride. No Jane or John Does please.

If you are too embarrassed to put your name as the commenter, you probably should re-evaluate your comments (you know the drill... see number 1). If you have sensitive information that you feel needs to be passed along, please use your best judgment and e-mail it to us to avoid public posting. We don't want you to have any post-post regrets.

Don't Name Names. Let's not get too personal here.

We know you want to share your experiences, both good and bad, but this isn't the place to publicly condemn or praise individual people. Feel free to comment on "the service", "the chef", or "the staff", but any positive or negative mention of specific names will be moderated.
