With a huge menu of AUTHENTIC Mexican food you’ll spend more time deciding what you want than you will eating it. You can’t go wrong with one of their combination platters so you get a taste of everything this place has to offer.

The atmosphere is full of Mexican whimsy; you’ll feel like you’ve gone south of the border. This place is a must try for lunch and/or dinner!

It’s okay. The food is alright, it’s not expensive so I can’t be too critical. The waitstaff is usually friendly but they hardly speak English which is VERY frustrating!

I will never spend another dollar at this restaurant.

We generally dine in, but one night wanted to order takeout instead. So I called and asked if they would fax me a menu. The man I spoke with told me that he would send it “this time” but I had better keep it. He said that if I ever called back he would not send me another one, and I quote “That’s why we have takeout menus.”

I told him to forget it. The food is fine — basic Mexican — but nothing spectacular. I’ll spend my money elsewhere; nothing like turning away customers!

wow surprised to see so many negative reviews! I go there all the time and have never had a bad experience – I’ve even been there twice in one day for lunch and dinner.

food is always prepared appropriately, staff is very friendly and the vibe of the place in general is good. good hospitality, free chips and salsa, plus the portion sizes ensure that you will go home full.

    check out #221!

There is nothing authentic about this place. I wasn’t impressed with their food combinatins.

I ordered something very simple like the “Taquitos Mexicanos” and before eating them, I knew ther weren’t any good. The refried beans are runny, spanish rice taste more like butter rice. Will never go back again, would much rather try to cook Mexican food at home.

Moreover, the service is not any good either. Places like this who’s food is not so good, should try at least to offer better service. Don’t recommend.

Don’t bother – talk about horrible service. We were planning to eat here as a party of 10 with two toddlers (Meaning high-chairs, and I spelled this out to her). My wife, daughter and I arrived first around 5pm. I went inside and let the hostess know the size of the party, and that I was the first to arrive. I let her know I was going to wait outside fo the rest of the party, but she seemed to want to seat us – yet I explained again the party was not here.

I waited outside for the rest of the party to arrive in the next 10 minutes and we went inside. The hostess was no where to be found, and another gentlemen told us it would be 30 minutes. I asked for the hostess as she knew we were there and said it wouldn’t be a problem. He finally went looking for her, and came back to tell me she thought I left and she didn’t write out information down.

I finally gave in and he wrote down out information. Again, I told him 10 adults, two toddlers WITH high chairs. We continued to wait outside. After almost 30 minutes, he came out to tell us there were no high chairs.

He continued to say he didn’t like my attitude and maybe I should go elsewhere, which we were happy to do at that point.

One of the couples used to go to La Tolteca on a weekly basis, and we went with them on occasion. No more – they’ve lost customers for life.

For anyone that wants to try authentic Mexican Food. Go to El Gran Rodeo off of route 202. Except No Substitutes. If by chance, you are feeling lazy and do not want to make the drive, then try this place. This place is OK. Don’t expect anything to be fantastic. You might as well go to Taco Bell bc it is just as good. This place gets a D.

Great Food, Great Prices Great Service.

We go at least 3 times a month. Everyone is friendly, food is prompt, portions are good. And yes, the Salsa/Chips are AWESOME.

Desert is the only thing we stopped getting. Churros are good fresh, and they never end up as good as we would like.

Warning – Do not eat at this restaurant. The staff cannot speak english therefore cannot give you any service. They take your order over the phone and then when you get there, they do not have your order. They are very rude.

    MUY EXCELLENTE!
We get take out from here all the time at work and their salsa is THE BEST around!!!
Fast service, nice people, very reasonable!

I won’t visit them again! Why? I witnessed the waiter pouring a full glass of ice tea back into the pitcher after a customer left.

If that happens out front what happens in the back where you can’t see?

Love La Tolteca!!!!!!!! Love the cheese dip!! I could drink it. Great fast service for a great price.

Very reasonable prices and good friendly service maybe that’s why they’re so busy busy busy! Love the guacomole – I could make a meal of it even without the tortilla chips. Wish they did chicken mole though.

Ok … not sure how the staring system works but this place is 5 stars. Inexpensive, family owned and operated, excellent portions, super fast friendly service … only draw back is no alchohol. Most other La Tolteca’s have alchohol but not this one.

Feel like being daring … try the Sampler – I think it is 201 or 211 on the menu – $12.00 gets you a try at what seems like everything they have on the menu. When I say everything, get ready for 2 plates … but for $12.00, I don’t even bother wondering what I want, I just get the sampler and figure it out when it’s in front of me.

Service here is quick and the food filling and tasty. Not the most authentic but certainly worth my many visits.

Review Guidelines
Be Respectful. Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?

Although the old saying, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all," is swell, we encourage constructive feedback (ie, be polite), and recommend backing-up your comments with evidence/witnesses.

Be Honest. Look where it got Abe Lincoln. Well, before the evening at the theater.

We don't recommend complaining just for the sake of it (see number 1), but if you have a legitimate comment, it should be shared. Also, don't hesitate to disagree with other comments, even if your opinion is in the minority. If patrons aren't honest about their experiences, restaurants won't know that there is room for improvement. And there always is.

Be Specific. "The food was good" doesn't cut it.

Each dining experience is unique, so if a dining experience moves you in any way, by all means, share the details. Choose the sensory details that impacted your experience the most and describe them in your postings. Other foodies will gobble it up—literally.

Be Concise. 'Nuf said.

What? We thought it was pretty clear the first time.

Be Helpful. Sort of like how the elves and reindeer help Santa.

Will what you have to say improve the restaurant's ability to provide impeccable service and improve the dining experience for others (again, see number 1)? If so... help away.

Show a Little Pride. No Jane or John Does please.

If you are too embarrassed to put your name as the commenter, you probably should re-evaluate your comments (you know the drill... see number 1). If you have sensitive information that you feel needs to be passed along, please use your best judgment and e-mail it to us to avoid public posting. We don't want you to have any post-post regrets.

Don't Name Names. Let's not get too personal here.

We know you want to share your experiences, both good and bad, but this isn't the place to publicly condemn or praise individual people. Feel free to comment on "the service", "the chef", or "the staff", but any positive or negative mention of specific names will be moderated.
