Great food in a wonderful atmosphere. I do agree that the service is about average but to those who trashed the place because “it’s too loud,” I say this: West Chester is a college town and a bar town, young people are louder than most older people. However, Limoncello’s clientele resembles in no way some of its neighbors on Gay Street. Secondly, this is an Italian restaurant. Complaining about noise is just silly- can’t we all have a good time without being so American about it? With that said, the veal dishes are quite good and I believe they use many, though not all, fresh ingredients. In my opinion, its one of the better Italian spots in the area and it won’t cost you an arm and a leg. Also, go for lunch!

I love the food – never had a bad meal here. The only problem is that it is so loud. Even when it’s not that crowded.
-
The food is always good…the service on the other hand is not. I have eaten there a dozen times. But my last experience was the WORST. We were there on a Saturday night; we had a reservation but had to wait. (This seems standard here regardless of what time your reservation is.) The kids waited an hour and forty minutes for chicken fingers and nobody even apologized…instead the hostess said they make everything from scratch so it takes longer? They actually brought out a couple of the adults dinners before the kids…all of our meals came out at different times. She did offer to buy the kids ice cream…which seemed like a ridiculous peace offering considering it was a party of 10…everyone ordered apps, dinner, wine etc. It was a large bill. PAINFUL. It is a shame -the food is always good but they really need to improve their service or people will stop going. I certainly will not be returning anytime soon.
-
The food is really good and the service is decent. Had to wait 20 minutes for a table even though we had a reservation. It was really loud and crowded. I think the $5 corking fee is crap.
-
My boyfriend and I ate there for the first time and we loved it. Im a vegetarian and often find good, meat-free food hard to find. The buffet had a huge selection including salmon, tortellini, chicken parmesan, sausage and peppers .. and those were just the hot dishes! There was a plethora of roasted vegetables, 4 different pizzas, 2 strombolis and 2 salads. Our service was great, to the point that we had more than one server at a time answering our questions. After the buffet we even ordered desert, the key lime cheesecake was to die for. We will definitely be back, over and over!

This place is awesome. The staff is great!! Michelle and Jared{ I think?} are hard workers. I’ve known her for a couple years and always bring people to see her. She always makes you feel welcome along with everyone else that works there. They make a point to get to know the people. To me that it huge. They want you to come back. That in my eyes is huge…Limoncello has made itself the “it” place in town…not just for the first couple months like most places…the place is here to stay…they do it right. All I can say to the owners…you have a great staff and management..keep up the good work! Dont let go of what you have there. It’s something most places thrive for.

Ok, bad, really bad. I’ll bullet point:
- Sat us next to the noisiest table ever.
- my husband was seated next to the trash can.
- Ordered a bottle of wine that took at least 10 minutes to be delivered.
- We asked to be moved because of the noise
- The bread was stale and the bread napkin in the basket was stained like it was not changed between usage. So I’m sure it was recycled.
- For an italian restaurant, they do not make their own caesar dressing. The waiter told me they didn’t.
- I ordered the pescatore (sp?) and it was delivered with EVERYTHING in the shell. Sorry but I don’t want to shuck my own meal, that’s what I’m paying you for. Mussels, claims, lobster, shrimp – ALL IN THE SHELL! I had to take everything out to just take a bite! Not to mention that every bit of sand from the shells was transfered to my pasta. GROSSSSSSS!!!!!
- This is the best part: as we are looking around for our waiter to pay our check, we see him taking a shot with another table. Nice.I worked in a restaurant for many years and I know when I’m paying for crap. And this was crap. Don’t go!
-
The food is excellent, my mouth is watering now. I ordered the homemade lasagna and meatballs. The place is friendly and has attentive service. Owners are always there and are very friendly, they keep things going efficiently. Very sweet and accommodating family.
What a great hang out,
I loved it! -
WOW West Chester!
What a wondeful place
the the food is Great even if you have to wait its worth it, ITS FRESH People!Thats why its always busy. It’s a family place where people can feel at home, unlike any other place in West Chester. The staff and owners are friendly and attentive, they care.I felt very much at home. The great prices and warm atmosphere encourage, sampling the delicious tastes of Sicilian cooking. All of the appetizers and dinners that my family tried were fabulous. . We loved everything and this will be our Family SPOT.
Thanks Limoncello! -
Awful – will never go back. Arrived on time for our reservation, but weren’t seated for 30 minutes. After finally ordering our food it took more than 40 minutes to be served and we were told it was because our party was so large – there were 6 of us & we weren’t the only party of 6, but we were the only ones waiting for our food! When we asked to speak to the manager he went to his office and refused to come out. Bad service in an okay restaurant with okay food. Certainly not a place we’d recommend & definitely not a place we would waste our time or money on again.

We dined at Limoncello with high expectations, mainly from this board. We left disappointed 90 minutes later. We arrived early, with reservations, and were wisked to the rear of the restaurant. The entire front (except one table) was empty. Why not seat us in the front room??? My seat was inches from a door that led downstairs. It seemed every 20 minutes a waiter found it necessary to open the door, banging into my chair (no excuse me’s, sorry, etc. here) and proceed down the stairs. More later…
The restaurant began to fill, and waiting couples were now standing around us, making any attempt at conversation futile… The food arrives, and while not as good as some of the lofty reviews, it was good, large portions, and priced right…
The fourth time the waiter hit my chair with the open door, I decided to end this nonsense, by closing the door forcefully. BOOM! All conversation stops, and the owner only looks my way and walks away…We will not be back. -
Having enjoyed Limoncello since its opening my wife and I ate at there recently and were very disappointed. While the food is still good (although the calimari isn’t as good as it was) the atmosphere has declined dramatically. The restaurant is over-crowded and extremely loud…we had to practically yell just to hear each other. As good as the food is the atmosphere may keep us away in the future.
-
Food=Phenominal, Drinks=Phenominal, The Limoncello Martini is my favorite martini. The limoncello at the end is perfect and I have had homemade limoncello from Italy. I am having my rehersal dinner here as well, the staff could not be more accomodating and kind! A+++++++++++++++
-
The place is on fire!!! They have everything going for them…great food….awesome location…and outstanding workers. Our waitress rocked it…she is a smart addition to the place. Everything about Limoncello is excellent!!!

So I was just glancing through Main Line Today magazine and read in an interview with Cole Hamels that Limoncello Ristorante is his favorite dinner destination! Well I must say that Cole and I share now two things in common, the love for Phillies baseball and Limoncello as our favorite restaurant. I cant say what my favorite dish is because I love them all….OK, so if I had to narrow it down, it would be usually what is on special….Red Snapper, Flounder, Rack of Lamb. The Arancini appetizer is out of this world. Great atmosphere, great service, family owned!

My Boyfriend and I recently experienced some great cuisine at Limoncello. Our meal started off with a lovely greeting from the staff. As we were escorted through a charmingly decorated restaurant to our seats, we saw a table in the window that was more suitable for our impromptu romantic evening. They happily sat us there instead. We started our meal with a great Chianti recommended by our server with the Antipasto Limoncello. Tastefully selected cheeses, artichoke hearts, and fresh roasted peppers…delicious. We proceeded to our main course with my boyfriend ordering Porcini Stuffed Agnolotti and I had the Pescatore. I highly recommend these dishes. Once again, delicious. We were told that the Tiramisu was homemade, so we shared that with two Cappuccinos….you guessed it, delicious! The experience we had at Limoncello was not just for the taste buds, but also a friendly and comforting experience. We loved the staff, the crowd, the bar, and its convenient location! The prices are very reasonable for the huge portions you get. We will be back there again, see you soon Limoncello! Amore!

This was our first time dining at Limoncello and I can definitely say that we will be going back!
The menu is wonderful- there is a great selection. No matter what you are in the mood for they have it.
I had the Chicken Limoncello and my husband had the Veal Milazzo; they were amazing and the leftovers tasted even better the next day!
To sum up the experience, the food is excellent and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. By the way- our entrees were recommended by the hostess who greeted us with a very warm and inviting welcome. We were also asked if we would like to get a drink at the bar while we waited for our table which we thought was a great idea. I would rather grab a cocktail and mingle than wait by the entrance any day! ~Thanks Limoncello! We already made our reservation for next weekend! -
Never again will I wait until the last minute and book a table for Valentines Day at a restaurant I am unfamiliar with …
Good lord was this a terrible experience. The wife and I go there for Valentines Day dinner, and it probably ranks as one of the worst Italian meals I’ve ever had. My wife and I are 100% Italian, I am a serious home chef, a student of all things culinary, and I have apprenticed at Philadelphia’s top restaurant. I know food, and I know Italian food. This was an insult. My crab cake appetizer was mediocre, as it was quite mushy and oily as a result of not being sauteed in a pan that was hot enough. The true nightmare of the dinner was the pasta entrees. Clearly, the pasta comes from a box, and if it is being made in-house they should be ashamed of themselves. My wife ordered the lobster ravioli and I the porcini agnolotti. The pasta was criminally overcooked, gummy, and bland. When the ravioli arrived, my wife thought they brought her the wrong order, because the dish looked like a soup. The peaks of two poor lobster ravioli were barely recognizable as they were barely breaking the surface of what looked like a bowl filled to the rim with an under-seasoned, flavorless, butter-laden “sauce.” The other remaining ravioli were not visible, as they obviously drowned in the stuff and lay dead at the bottom of the bowl. I would never have been able to tell that my agnolotti had porcini in it if it wasn’t for the menu. Couldn’t taste porcini (which was amazing because if you know porcini, you know it’s extremely hard NOT to taste it in a dish), and there was an embarrassing amount of filling in each one. I’m not even going to try to understand what sauce it was swimming in, because it tasted like nothing.
Service was really inattentive yet invasive, if you could figure that one out, and while we were not offered dessert or coffee. Our senses were taken hostage by the blinding stench of cologne-soaked, hairy chested goombas and the rude volume of their boastful conversations. And my wife had a child cough on her food from the next table. No discrimination in the patrons: finely dressed couples trying to enjoy a nice dinner, blue-haired seniors, Sopranos extras, and families who clearly threw on a pair of dungarees, sneakers, and baseball cap as they ran out the door with their several, under-age-ten, coughing children. I have a four-year old, but I got a babysitter that night.
Would have sincerely had a better experience at Bertuccis. Almost got divorced over this meal. Thanks Limoncello.
-
Food is awesome!! Prices are well worth the food you get. I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass and have NO bad comment.
Fish was fresh, seasoned to perfection and the portions were VERY reasonable. The hostess is what threw me off a bit! It almost feels she tries to force you to buy a drink at the bar. Next time you visit this place and she offers you to get a drink say “no thank you” then you’ll notice her rude/unwelcoming reaction.
I think the bar may pay her some type of comission for sending customers (just a thought.)
-
Have to admit, Limoncello is pretty much the only place my husband and I eat at in West Chester. You have to try the fried calamari – its honestly the best around served light and crispy with two dipping sauces – one of our favorites! Also excellent is their eggplant parm and seafood dishes. Had one of their specials once – Flounder stuffed with crabmeat with broccoli rabe and cappellini – DELICIOUS! In fact, I still think about it. Sunday through Tues is BYO so thats awesome too.
I am Italian and I know great food. Of all the many times I have eaten at Limoncello, I have never left disappointed but I almost always leave with leftovers so bring your appetite.
To sum up…excellent food, great staff and a warm, “Tuscan-like” atmosphere. Everyone I know loves it – why do you think they expanded? Its almost always packed for dinner just about any night of the week, so be wise and make a reservation.
Buon Appetito!
-
There is one word that sums up this delightful organization…..amazing! The new addition was decorated very tastefully and it’s evident much thought and creativity went into the design. The food is amazing…my favorites are the Veal Milazzo and Chicken Limoncello. The veal is so tender and the chicken is cooked perfectly. Their specials always sound delightful. My biggest problem when I go here is deciding on what dish to order! The prices are very reasonable. I love everything about this place….the food, the bar, the people, and the great smile I got from the hostess when I walked in the door. She really made us feel welcome….like I was visiting a relative’s house. Thumbs up to Limoncello!
-
Limoncello is amazing, thank God for the expansion. The decor is very pleasing and inviting. It has great atmosphere and great service! WE LOVE IT!!!!Thank You for coming West Chester
-
Limoncello is our favorate restaurant in West Chester. The people are so freindly and the food is outstanding. West Chester needed a restaurant like this. The new expansion looks great. Keep up the good work.
-
Well…I thought I was missing something and wanted to reserve my commentary. Why I doubted my mature palate and my experience as a pretty darned good cook, I don’t know! I was puzzled by the rave reviews for Lemoncello myself and even gave it a second glance one day when I was being treated to a b’day lunch by a friend and her destination of choice was closed. We walked the short walk to Lemoncello for a second go round.
As previously mentioned by other patrons, the wait staff could not have been nicer. The food, however, seemed day old and a day late. The atmosphere was relaxing enough to make me feel encouraged that maybe they had worked the kinks out since my first visit. Alas, not so.
I basically gave them my money after opting not to eat the food. This was yet another horrible meal, mushy, tasteless, cold and uncreative. Someone needs help here! Expansion? Why?
-
This was my second visit to Limoncello. I’m sorry to say, the second was really no better than the first.
The people were all very kind and helpful. I almost wish they worked somewhere else with better food, because they really do go out of their way to be pleasant. Sadly, their warmth and politeness doesn’t overcome the averageness of the food: TTHE FOOD IS TOO HEAVY AND THE PORTIONS ARE TOO LARGE. It’s hard to believe because I think the owner is Italian-born. I’ve been all over Italy, and they don’t serve food like this over there. Less is more.
Limoncello would benefit by cutting it’s portions in half, and lowering the prices, even if only slightly. The sauces are heavy, and overpowering. If I closed my eyes, I’d swear I was at Maggiano’s, or Carmine’s. I hope I’m not being mean, but this is not Italian food for real Italians. However, if you like everything overdone, and gigantic portions, like the average American, you’ll dig it.
Their bar is very nice, and, again, the people were great.
The complimentary limoncello shot at the end was a nice touch. It was strong, but tasty. Probably made with grain, instead of vodka, but it was pretty good.

1st time diner. This will be a mixed review.
The Pros:
Reservations made within an hour of calling. Arrived early, but we were seated with pleasure, even in a buzzing, busy atmosphere. The expansion (although I was never in the original) was impressive. Nice ambiance and still preserved the character of old West Chester. Our bartender was really sweet. The host was most gracious. Our server was professional, attentive, and swift. The Cons:
Food was heavy, saucy, and portions were too large, which I realize is common for Americanized Italian dishes. I wish more Italian restaurants who claimed to be authentic would adopt the same ideals as Italy would. Smaller portions, more courses, lighter fare.I ordered the chilean sea bass and I could tell it was frozen, not fresh because of its sponginess.
He ordered the special, which was a chicken dish, but he didn’t eat much of it because it was just so heavy.
We ate calamari for an app, which was tasty at first, but it quickly lost its luster after a few bites because it too was smothered in sauce.
We tried this restaurant because of a great deal on a $25 gift certificate on restaurant.com. They accepted the GC without a problem, and no minimum was required.
We’d return to have a drink at the new bar, and possibly a LIGHT app.

Made our first visit to this popular newer restaurant yesterday and sampled the $9.95 lunch antipasto buffet. It reminded me of the very similar antipasto buffet served some days at the under-rated Fiorello’s.
It’s apparent that Limoncello has quite a different lunch crowd from many of the restaurants in the Borough that focus more on serving the courthouse crowd. At Limoncello I noticed more Main Line ladies of leisure dining together, retired couples, as well as mature widows filling up. The relatively unhurried atmosphere and pleasant decor also bespeak this difference.
In a typical New World adaptation the buffet is not a true antipasto selection, in that there are no cold cuts, and there are a couple of pasta (primi) and meat (secondi) selections as well.
Visually, the presentation of the food is very appetizing, and like the restaurant itself, nicely prepared. However, diners should be aware that only the pasta and meat are served warm. All the pizza and vegetables are allowed to cool as they sit on the buffet tables, and as a result, the texture of several becomes a little soggy over time. Nevertheless, there were some standouts, most notably the salads and the roasted red peppers, as well as disappointments, including the grilled eggplant that tasted slightly fishy. Neither the pasta nor the meat were particularly successful, either. The pasta was heavy and dense, probably from sitting too long, and the breaded white fish was extremely bland. The pizza, while cold, were more successful and recommended by comparison.
There’s obviously something good going on here, and a lot of promise, but next time I’ll be looking at something cooked to order, which will be a much fairer assessment of the kitchen at this popular venue.
-
I have had dinner at Limoncello 4 or 5 times over the last 1.5 years and each time it was gradually worse. Overall the food does not taste fresh and the wait staff is marginal at best. I have learned that their entrees are OK if you stick to the simple dishes. Many of the dishes sound great on the menu but when I have ordered them they very often disappointing. Sometimes the sauces are bland, pasta overcooked, meats and seafood can be mushy.
The last time I was there we had an unusually poor experience with the wait staff. When ordering one of the “specials” my wife asked if there were any onions in the dish. Rather than checking with the kitchen, the waiter decided to ask a woman at a neighboring table who ordered the same thing. After the waiter yelled over to the other table to get the woman’s attention she said “ummm, no.” The dish came out with onions and my wife picked them out as she ate her meal. When the waiter came by to ask how everything was I told him there were onions in my wife’s food and he said nonchalantly that it is normal for the “special” dish to be changed slightly throughout the night. He also made a comment that he has trouble communicating to the kitchen staff because they do not speak English well. I am curious what language they speak in the kitchen…I don’t think it is Italian.
-
Limoncello offers a warm inviting ambiance that drew us in as we walked down Walnut street. My wife actually said; “that looks like a place that would have great soup” (perfect for an October night) and she was right the Pasta Faglioli and Chicken Tortellini were excellent! We were also thrilled with the fresh italian bread and light flavorful olive oil. Finally the Eggplant Parmigiana was the best I’ve had in Years and the Porcini Stuffed Agnolotti was beyond words….We will look forward to taking visiting family and friends here in the future.
-
Reading some of the reviews can truely be misleading! Food is of expectional Italian quality. Owners are friends and quick to remember familiar faces. Food is fresh and tastey, hence the constant crowd dining at this establishment! Caio!
-
Some of the negative reviews below are absolutely the most ridiculous descriptions of any restaurant I have ever read. We have visited Limoncello’s a dozen times since its opening and have not once been disappointed. Not even come close to being disappointed. Well, maybe, ONE TIME, I thought my Tiramisu slice could have been a tad bit larger since IT IS THE BEST AROUND!!! Yeah, I’m Italian too, but I know that it is very difficult to screw up good, honest Italian food…all the basics, fresh bread, tender veal, fresh vegetables are all prepared to perfection at Limoncellos. You know, if you are looking to take your kid out for pizza, next time take your kid to Pizza Hut – you will have more credibility criticizing that joint.
-
This is my first and Last time
I dine at Limoncello’s. After hearing good things about this restaurant, we decided to take my son there for his birthday.
He ordered a pizza, the crust tasted like a cracker, cannot believe this is a pizza from a wood burning oven. My entree, the Chicken Limoncello, was of poor quality, the chicken was battered chicken tenders, the angel hair pasta was mush, and the sauce was of package quality. My wife’s dish, the mushroom agnilotti, wasn’t as bad, how can you screw up frozen pasta, these were not made fresh. This restaurant is not Italiano, it is AMERICANO! Olive Garden, Carrabba’s, American corporation crap. I cannot believe the owners are from Italy, they would never get away with this in Italia! They should be ashamed of themselves. Do yourself a big favor, STAY AWAY. A total dissapointment! -
This is my fourth visit to Limoncello and my LAST! Being Italian and appreciating good food, I really tried with this restaurant and am displeased. My dining companion’s appetizer was “out of a can,” and unseasoned. His linguini was mushy and the shellfish was ridiculously overcooked, accented with a flavorless sauce. He actually had to mask the taste with parmesan cheese…on seafood!!!!! The raviolis are still laying in my stomach, hard and longing to be digested…super al dente! The salad was and has been each time difficult to taste under the gallon of balsamic vinaigrette. The service was great, but the food does not come close to say an Albertos in WC or San Nicola in Berwyn. It just doesn’t seem authentic to me.
-
LIMONCELLO IS THE BEST ITALIAN RESTURANT IN WEST CHESTER ! WE ALWAYS HAVE GREAT FOOD AND GREAT SERVICE EVERY TIME WE GO. I DECICED TO GET THE ONE OF MANY CREATIVE CHEF SPECIALS THE RED SNAPPER OSCAR. NOW WE CAN’T WAIT FOR THERE EXPANSION

My husband took me to Limoncello for my birthday a few weeks ago. We were very disappointed from the start of the meal. We arrive around 6:00 on a Friday night and their were multiple families dining. Normally this would not be an issue however, the table closest to us had three very loud and out of control kids. It was so cold in the restaurant that I did not take off my coat. When the meal starts out with tasteless bread you know you are in trouble. The starter Caesar salad was tasteless and over priced. The dish that I ordered was bland and un editable. I attempted to push the food around on my plate and act enthused about our dinner but on the inside I was screaming. When we left, my husband said to me that he was a little disappointed that the restaurant did not live up to it’s reputation. I did not share my thoughts since it was nice gesture. But wow…what a waste of money. I will not go back. On a positive note, our waiter was very polite and attentive
-
Last night was my second visit to Limoncello and I couldn’t help but feel I was back in Rome. We started with the bruschetta – the olive oil pleasantly coated my lips and the tomatoes had just the right seasonings. Then on to my entrée of Veal medallions in a rose sauce on a bed of cappellini – delizioso. Joe, our waiter, could not have been nicer or more accommodating. He was well versed on the evening’s specials, answered all questions with ample knowledge of food – a delight. Definitely a Numero Uno on my WC restaurant list.
-
Limoncello is fabulous! You MUST eat there!!!
I take all of our out of town guests there, and is my 1st recommendation when I am asked for somewhere to eat in West Chester!
The Lobster Ravs are better than anywhere else. I only get them there now.
LOVED IT!Hope to be there again soon!
-
Ate at Limoncello last night, I gave it an A-. The calamara fritte was excellent. Cooked just the way i like it. The Bruschetta was delicious and a nice touch. Dinner was good, but not great. I had the Chicken Parmesan and my gf had a Chicken dish that I cannot remember the name of but it had eggplant and artichoke hearts on it. She said it was ok too. Dessert was fantastic, I had the Apple toulet with an expresso and my gf had the tiramisu. Both delicious. Over all, not the best italian food that I have had (Little Italy on the Shore in Ocean City, MD) but it’s right up there at #2 or 3. Like I said before A-.
-
Had a very good dinner at Limoncello last night. We shared the calamari appetizer, which was some of the best we’ve had. It was not overcooked or greasy. It came with two very good dipping sauces. I had the porcini stuffed agnolotti, which is essentially mushroom ravioli. It was excellent and a good-sized portion. I had enough for leftovers and it was even better the next day. My hushand had shrimp and crab fra diavlo. He said it was very good and spicy with a good portion of shrimp, but not much crab. The peanut butter cheesecake was also very good. Our waitress was very pleasant and attentive. They brought complimentary bruschetta at the beginning of the meal and a shot of Limoncello at the end, both nice touches. If I had to complain about anything it would be that the space isn’t large enough. Whenever the door opened a cold breeze came in and there wasn’t room for people waiting for their tables to be comfortable. Also, I think the restaurant was likely over-capacity. You could barely squeeze by tables to get to the bathroom, not the safest situation. Hopefully, that will be rectified with the expansion.
-
Ate lunch there today with my spouse and it was just ok. They have a lunch buffet that looked like a good assortment, but I felt we were urged a little strongly to try the buffet. Instead, I opted for the Italian Hoagie and my wife tried the Eggplant Sandwich.
When I ordered the Italian Hoagie, the waiter had to check because he said it had been removed from the menu!?! I didn’t understand, because it was on my menu. He came back and said they could make it. I can’t say this was the most authentic Italian Hoagie I’ve ever had.
The space was also very tight and loud. Hopefully, they will space things out better once their expansion is done.
-
Limoncello is my Jullieta…with love! I cheer to the fact that they are soon able to please more mouths at one sitting by expanding nextdoor with a full service bar. Indulge with an order of Fried Calamari, Veal Milazzo, fresh bread and your own select vino rosso for a magical evening.
To my fellow West Chester taste buds…..
WCeater…so much negativity from the tongue. Why return if displeased the first time? Would you like me to call you a bad name, twice? Is this website not WC Comparison? The key to a successful restaurant is to have a UNIQUE taste. Unique meaning different from the competition (i.e. Albertos).
Secondly, for those commenting about the wait….your ameatuers. An experienced WC diner should know that waiting is standard in this town, especially for a great restaurant like Limoncello!
Fantastico!
-
The food was alright – nothing special. I brought home leftovers and they went bad only a day later. It made me question what they served us.
The biggest problem was that we had a reservation and still had to wait over an hour and a half to even sit down. The hostess told us multiple times that it’d be another 10 mins when it turned out to be 40. I’m highly disappointed and will never go back.
-
we ate at limoncello last night and who did we see when we came in cole hamels (phillies pitcher) and his wife. wow even sport’s stars eat at limoncello. my meal was fantasic the chicken limoncello was so good i had to ask for more bread to soak the juice. my wife had veal milazo the veal was so tender she just only had to use her fork to cut it. i give limoncello 5 stars because service and the food were outstanding.
-
It’s intimate and cozy, great place to bring a date. We loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
LIMONCELLO is PERFECTION!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone who knows good food, knows, that the food Taste Great!!!!!!! It’s a family place where people can feel at home, unlike any other place in West Chester. The staff and owners are friendly and attentive. The moderate prices and warm atmosphere encourage, sampling the delicious tastes of Sicilian cooking. All of the appetizers and dinners that my family tried were fabulous. My three year old son loved his personal pizza. We loved everything and will make it our Family SPOT. -
Had lunch at Lemoncello, and I really question what all the rave is about? I found the food to be of poor quality and also found the veal over cooked and very tough to even cut. Service was ok, but being one of only a hand full of customers…..I felt more attention could have been given to filling my water and less time on over cooking my meal.
-
We made a rservation for SaturdAY SEPTEMBER 22. When we arrived at 7:00 PM for our resevation they had no record of it. I swore I swould not be back. While away on business, my family went on a Wednesday night. Everone was dissapointed. The veal tasted like beef jerky, the pasta was okAY. The eggplant parmasean was not as good as BUCCA DE BEPPO.
Will not be back
-
Limoncello is outstanding! Great food…great atmosphere and great service!
My husband and I had heard so many good things about Limoncello and the buzz was right! We went with 2 other couples and everyone agreed; you couldn’t get more authentic and delicious Italian dishes if you went straight to Italy! Before we paid our bill we were already planning our next visit, who we’re bringing and what we were ordering next!
The calamari was fantastic, best in the area for sure!! Fresh, lightly fried and delicious. I enjoyed the rack of lamb and my husband a pasta dish with shrimp and crab. Finsihed off the night with fresh homemade Biscotti and Espresso!
If you want authentic DELICIOUS Italian food you must try Limoncello!

Step through the door and you’ll experience the warmest Italian ambiance in the county! The family owners and friendly, well trained staff always have a smile on their face while they attend to your every need. The decor is very pleasing and inviting with the usage of beautiful colors, tile and granite, and two large plasma screens always playing great Italian sounds. I suggest grabbing a table outside and enjoy your meal in the cool breeze of our ending summer nights. Get there early because they fill up fast with friendly and recurring loyal West Chester-ians. An option of call ahead seating is available. Dinner prices are very reasonable. The lunch buffet is $8.95 (incl beverage)….who can beat that?!
The menu includes a mix of classic Italian ingredients and contemporary tastes that always satisfies my native Italian tastebuds. Their summer salad with fresh spring mix, strawberries, gorgonzola cheese, and pecans with rasberry vinegarette is delicious. Specials always include varieties of chicken, fishes, pastas, and beef. The Veal Milazzo (3 generous veal cutlets, topped with fresh mazzorella, and fresh tomato sauce) and Chicken Limoncello (fresh breast of chicken, egg dipped, lemon, white wine sauce, asparagus, crab) are fantastic and my favorites. If the stuffed pepper special is on the menu that night, be wise enough to order it.
Limoncello also offers great catering service and a take out menu with much to offer.

I ate at Limincello with 3 of my friends on Monday, 8/27/07. I have eaten there at least 4 times. The noise level is high, so get there early. The food, as always, was fresh and superb.
I do however, have a complaint about our waiter. He was not attentative and was pre-occupied with the playing video games on the computer, that is located in the dining area. In addition he left the restaurant to observe the police activity across the street, (gas leak from owner’s car);and when he returned proceeded to our table without washing his hands. Sorry for the small tip. By the way we did not get our serving of bruchetta.DISAPPOINTED

We went to dinner with another couple about 3 weeks ago. We had 6:30 pm reservations on a Saturday night. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were told that it would be a 45 minute wait to sit inside. Since it was a Saturday and we were hungry, we sucked it up and sat outside on a pretty humid evening. The food was great, the service was good, but I was really disappointed in their reservation “system”. If you are going to allow reservations, honor them. There was no difference in us making one and just showing up.

We’ve been twice and both times the food was very good but the service was very slow. The place is small so it always seems crowded. The owners seem nice and the video on thier flat screen played a Sinatra concert. I liked it.

I ate there Saturday night with a party of six. The food was great. Prices were very reasonable for the qualtity. The food included:
crab topped portabello: Very good (but difficult dish to ruin).
Antipasta: the serving for two fed the entire table. Nice.
Veal with Prociutta in red sauce: Delightful.
lobster ravioli in red sauce: Very good AND it included a lobster tail.
Added bonus: Everyone at table got a complimentary bruchetta and limoncello shot. Nice touch.
Although I don’t mind SLIGHTLY slow service, it took 10 minutes to have our wine opened and almost 15 minutes to receive bread. Unacceptable. Tip for all food establishments: Bring bread and drinks (or open wine) within the first few minutes of guest arrival and slower service later in the evening will be forgiven.
The other downside was the noise. Probably the loudest restaurant in West Chester. Tip for Limoncello: consider fashioning dainty earplugs out of napkin squares – perhaps in the shape of swans.
Safety tip: remove the chairs that were blocking the hall to the bathroom. If they lady at the front table needed to get there in a hurry – it could have gotten ugly. I think you now what I’m talking about.
I hereby give Limoncello 6.5 “that blue yak” stars out of 10.

I had a delightful dinner at Limoncello. The complimentary bruchetta was outstanding, and I’m not a big fan of tomatoes! Our waitress offered to bring us a second helping after dinner if we wanted it. My husband and I both had veal entrees and polished them off. Dessert was special – half a pineapple hollowed out and filled with pineapple sorbet – a tasty, refreshing end to a meal on a hot summer night.

The food is great but the restaurant is small and noisy. I have been there 4 times and the last 2 times the service was bad. The place was not crowded and it took forever to get our food. In addition to the long waits the female wait staff we had the last 2 times there were crabby in general and did nothing to explain the delays. I’ll definiely go there again and give them another chance since I am hoping 3 is not a charm and the service is as good as it was the first 2 times I was there.

I had my graduation luncheon at Limoncello and it was amazing! At first I was denied reservations (for a party of 14-gasp!) but were eventually obliged after I convinced them of the possibility of heavy volume on graduation day.
I had set up plans months in advance and even picked out a a spot in the front window–where I wanted everyone at one table to facilitate conversation. This was all well and fine with them. However, when we arrived, there was one table of three people that had been seated at one of the tables my party would need in order to sit in the window. We were seated in a “party room” in the back (which I had seen and didn’t like the idea of –near the bathroom and kitchen) and had to split the group between two tables. This was a major issue with me, but there was nothing I could do at this point. I did not want to be “Grad-zilla” and insist that they move the folks sitting in the window area.
All in all, the food was fantastic and I would go back again…just not with a large group.
I definitely reccomend the food though! The bruchetta was some of the best I’ve ever had, the antipasta was fabulous and everyone loved thier meals. No complaints for the food.

Limoncello was the destination for our dinner group a couple of weeks ago. We too are WC fans though the WC Dish crew could pretty much be our kids.
Overall the food is good – not great – the service quite good – the ambiance very agreeable. BYOB is always fine by us.
Here are some insights that I gained: we were a group of 10. I arrived just after 5:30pm and asked for the table since they wouldn’t take a reservation on the phone (contrary to what the sidebar here states). Limoncello’s staff did a beautiful shuffle and viola – the table for 10 was set up. My friends filtered in right up to 6pm – the designated meet time. Warning: if you came at 5:50 for a table for 10 (or 8 and maybe 6) — forgettaboutit! You’d be waiting a looong time due to the popularity of Limencello.
The noise level in the restaurant is just right – a good buzz of energy without being so loud that we can’t talk. Catching up and talking is just as important as the food to this group.
With 10 folks we ordered a wide range of dishes from the veal to pasta. Everyone was glad they ate there and most of us have visited the restaurant again in the month since we were there.
I enjoyed some of the Limencello touches such as a free taste of bruchetta at the start and of limoncello at the finish.
When we left a crowd of a dozen or more people were on the street – bundled in winter coats and happily waiting until their table was ready. or maybe they were just happy that a party of 10 was leaving…
They have a lunch buffet which my husband and I enjoyed since our dinner there. The buffet is a quick meal that is reasonably priced ($8 currently – including beverage). Salads to pasta to a nice white fish were available. It’s an outstanding setup and offering for a one-of-a-kind restaurant that makes it even more impossible to go to chain restaurants!
