I’ve been having lunch here about 3x a month for about a year. I wish I could eat here every day! The food is superb – the chef has the talents of a fine-dining chef.
For a long time I always ordered the crabcake sandwich. Crabcakes were never one of my favorites but these taught me it’s a question of how they’re made.
Then I started branching out & every time was amazed. Among the most memorable are the short rib sandwich & short rib eggs benedict.

So, this place, hands down, makes the best breakfast in west chester. I have been here several times, and the waitstaff has been nothing but courteous towards me. The chef even made an exception when my friends and I showed up at 11 and wanted breakfast- she still let us order it. The food and the value is unbeatable. Last sunday, I got an omelet that was filled with mozzerella, tomato, spinach, and italian sausage!!!! FOR 8 DOLLARS!!!!! what a steal! breakfast for two (the omelet special, the french toast special, and two juices) came out to a little over 20 dollars, which in my opinion is a wonderful price. I will keep coming back, even when it’s crowded! If you want food you can’t get anywhere else, this is it!!

MSG for life. Keep up the good work guys.

I am so disappointed with the decline of the quality of the food and service. A few years ago I loved this place but lately it has been horrible. I cannot believe how rude the staff is, how unaccomodating the kitchen is, and how lousy the food is. The owner doesn’t care either which has been made clear by his lack of response to the letter I sent him. It is really a shame when loyal, long time customers are treated so badly. I will not spend my money at a place that doesn’t value its customers.

I have tried it a few times and I just don’t like it. The food is so average and the waitresses are not friendly at all. I don’t understand why it is always so crowded in a town with so many better places.

We love Market Street Grille and bring out of town friends/family here all the time and they end up loving it as well. We usually just do breakfast but have gone for lunch a few times as well and have not been disappointed once.

We come here every chance we get. Chef Darla puts a sophisticated spin on the menu. There’s nothing mediocre about the eggs and pancakes here – the pancakes are amazing, enormous with some of the most creative fillings and toppings I’ve ever had (and I have tried every breakfast place in Chester County and Delaware County) My wife (who was a chef for 26 years!)is in love with the benedicts, says they are pure perfection. Came for dinner last week and brought clients – everyone was pleased. The staff is fine for me – they are very busy and for the most part, quite young (this is a college town afterall) so I imagine mistakes are made sometimes. But I don’t come for the attention, I come for the best breakfast in Chester County by far.

Best breakfast in the area, hands down. I can’t help but order the Andouille Gravy Over Biscuits every time–it’s out of this world–although occasionally I’ll be tempted by one of Darla’s special french toast concoctions. Last week I had almond-encrusted french toast with caramelized apples and brie; it was the best french toast I’ve ever had. My girlfriend and I eat there every weekend and we’re never disappointed.

I just don’t get what all the hoopla is about. I have eaten here a few times and it is mediocre at best. Everybody I know seems to like it, but I can get eggs and pancakes at any diner. I also have to agree w/ C Brooks that the waitstaff is less than pleasant and tend to get orders wrong. Again, I just don’t get it.

  10. LaurenAug 13, 2009

In response to C Brooks’ comment…I COMPLETLEY DISAGREE… I got to MSG at least once a week and the staff is great… they are polite, helpful, and seem to really have fun @ work….and as far as getting the wrong order…no one is perfect having a mistake can happen…MSG is a fun/relaxed place, with great food, and a wonderful, friendly staff who are very personable…Best Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner in Town!!!!

I used to enjoy having breakfast here. My friends and I would go almost every weekend. Sometimes there are 2 of us sometimes 5 or 6. We spend a lot of money here. However, the last several times we have been in for breakfast the wait staff has been very rude, brought us the wrong food over and over, and was not at all helpful when asked to get us what we actually ordered. When something other than what I was ordered was placed in front of me I advised the waitress it wasn’t what I ordered and she said that was b/c they were out of what I asked for…I think she should have told me they were out of it rather than just give me something I didn’t order. We will not be going back.

Market Street Grill……where do I begin?? If you want some overpriced b.s. or some ahi tuna that cost you 28 bucks do not come here. Go here and expect to get scallops seared with a fresh raspberry demi glaze, or for breakfast a short rib eggs beni…..just order…do not ask what it is…you will thank me later. Or if you really want to get into it (just went there for dinner) order fresh salmon (HUGE piece) with a lobster sauce with chunks of fresh lobster meat and a side of asparagus. And I might add……….for 14 bucks. To end our fabulous dining experience try Darla’s super light lemon mascarpone filled crepes with a fresh raspberry demi. Ridiculous….even when your stomach is folding over your belt. To top it all off…………its BYOB baby. Who could ask for more??? Greco is a standup guy who is always aiming to please, and Darla is a sweetheart who will cook up anything you want and super creative.

You have great artwork to look at, beautiful girls taking your order and creative fresh delicious food to indulge yourself in. Try Market Street for breakfast and lunch…and now try it for dinner. Instead of your bill being 100 bucks or so for 2-3 people…try Market Street and bring your own juice and enjoy a real dinner where you are actually filled and satisfied as opposed to wanting to order a pizza..which is how I feel after leaving a number of West Chester establishment.

Keep up the good work guys.

No need to beat a dead horse- T.H.E. B.E.S.T.

Been coming here for years, love the food and the small town feel. Go for the Bruno Burrito, it’s out of this world. Otherwise, the omelettes are great or Darla will whip you up something to your fancy (just don’t ask her when she’s busy!).

Have to say that lunches are amazing as well, try the Tex Mex Burrito or the Chipotle Pork sandwich.

Servers are great too, the owner keeps them sightly and skilled!

Best place in town for breakfast-Where else are you gonna get a beautiful girl serving you a great meal for 8 bucks!!

  15. ShawnFeb 21, 2009

have to agree with Sean.. this is our new Sunday breakfast place. Penn’s table is great, but Market Street just stepped up!

Specials are truly that something to be excited for!

can’t wait for our next visit!

  16. SeanJan 25, 2009

Ahh, yum. I look forward to MSG every weekend. The best breakfast in town- by far…. just so you know, i’ve tried them all. Courteous staff, awesome pop art, comfortable atmosphere, and double delicious grub!!! I usually get the same thing, not to worry- they update their specials board every weekend. Like today: Crab, bacon, provolone, and broccoli rabe omelet…. mmm. Give it a whirl, you will not be let down. OH- and for those that have to have hot sauce with their eggs no matter what style- they carry Sriracha!

When you first walk in the initial impression is “diner”. The tables, booths and counter say right away that this is a traditional breakfast joint.

But then your eyes are caught by the vibrant original artwork, in bold, primary colours, with eclectic subjects ranging from Hendrix through the Phillies and Absolut Vodka to Christ. Soon the soundtrack catches your ear. Not typical wallpaper music. but harder and edgier. Some classic rock, but also more modern tunes, complimenting the paintings.

The food has a similar vibe. Sure there are omlettes served all day, and dependable soup of the day and chili, but there are also interesting specials including seared and glazed ahi tuna, as well as an eclectic range of wraps and salads (often with similar ingredients, including falafel and hummus), and sandwiches.

The tex-mex salad on this visit was a welcome relief from chain restaurant fare with fresh and crisp mixed greens (thankfully without iceberg lettuce), combined with tender, moist grilled chicken and a delicate, tangy cilantro cream dressing. Not spicy, but with added body from the corn and bean relish, it hit the right note after a heavy meal the previous evening.

Friendly young staff, reasonable prices, wide menu choices and a mixed clientele (not just the courthouse crowd) make this an inviting choice for lunch.

Years ago there used to be a great Mexican restaurant occupying this space before the Market Street Grill opened it’s doors. I have to say initially I was disappointed they were gone but, those feelings have since changed. Now we have the The Market Street Grill which is a guaranteed good meal. I usually order from the breakfast menu. I try to order different things but once I tried “The Bruno” it has been hard to order anything else.

MSG is unquestionably the best breakfast in town! Great specials and easily the best omelettes I’ve ever tasted. I work about 35 seconds away and I honestly think the proximity to MSG is one of the main reasons I took the job. I have never had a bad meal here. Also, the waitstaff are all stunning and friendly.

  20. mmmmangiaJan 27, 2008

My Oh My Oh! We ate breakfast around 1:00pm. on Sunday and we all had different, but happenin omlettes. The food was banging! Mozarella sticks and sausage in my son’s special omlette, oh yeah he was loving it! Even the food that went by us looked and smelled great.
I thought the colorful pop art paintings were eye catching. We will be back . . .
Our server was friendly, but could have been more attentive. She never asked if we wanted or needed anything else.

  21. MaryNov 11, 2007

I went here on a sunday morning and it was quite crowded, so try to get there early to beat the crowd. It is definitely worth the hype! I was served very quickly and my stuffed french toast was the most decadent thing i’ve ever eaten in my entire life! Oh my gosh! You have to try this place!

  22. GrizzleNov 09, 2007

I’ve been eating at MSG since it opened, and I can honestly say that I’ve never had a bad meal there. I usually order from the specials board without bothering to look at the menu. However, the Breakfast Burrito, Flank Steak Wrap and anything “Market Street” are standouts among the regular fare.

  23. Jenny H.Aug 14, 2007

Market Street Grill rocks! The specials are the most creative of any restaurant in town. The chef, Darla Riccetti, is innovative and talented with a loyal following. Every week she comes up with stuff you can’t get anywhere else. Love it!!!

  24. SusanAug 02, 2007

One of our favorite places for breakfast. Everything is good, service is always friendly, and I love the small town atmosphere.

It’s always a challenge to decide what to order because everything is great. Their omelets are always awesome, the granola is top notch and if you’re lucky…raspberry, white chocolate pancakes. WOW!

Best breakfast in town. Addictively delicious! Creative, exciting and comforting all at the same time.

Review Guidelines
Be Respectful. Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?

Although the old saying, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all," is swell, we encourage constructive feedback (ie, be polite), and recommend backing-up your comments with evidence/witnesses.

Be Honest. Look where it got Abe Lincoln. Well, before the evening at the theater.

We don't recommend complaining just for the sake of it (see number 1), but if you have a legitimate comment, it should be shared. Also, don't hesitate to disagree with other comments, even if your opinion is in the minority. If patrons aren't honest about their experiences, restaurants won't know that there is room for improvement. And there always is.

Be Specific. "The food was good" doesn't cut it.

Each dining experience is unique, so if a dining experience moves you in any way, by all means, share the details. Choose the sensory details that impacted your experience the most and describe them in your postings. Other foodies will gobble it up—literally.

Be Concise. 'Nuf said.

What? We thought it was pretty clear the first time.

Be Helpful. Sort of like how the elves and reindeer help Santa.

Will what you have to say improve the restaurant's ability to provide impeccable service and improve the dining experience for others (again, see number 1)? If so... help away.

Show a Little Pride. No Jane or John Does please.

If you are too embarrassed to put your name as the commenter, you probably should re-evaluate your comments (you know the drill... see number 1). If you have sensitive information that you feel needs to be passed along, please use your best judgment and e-mail it to us to avoid public posting. We don't want you to have any post-post regrets.

Don't Name Names. Let's not get too personal here.

We know you want to share your experiences, both good and bad, but this isn't the place to publicly condemn or praise individual people. Feel free to comment on "the service", "the chef", or "the staff", but any positive or negative mention of specific names will be moderated.
