I find the food to be a great value. I love the wings & the schweinshaxe. This place does great barbecue as well (love the brisket). It’s a brewery so it’s going to be mostly pub fare, but there are some surprising items on the menu. I really like the new renovations but I sit mostly in the back room, at the bar, or at the brewmaster’s table, not in the front. The beer is world class and the food is decent, but the service certainly could be better. Don’t come here if you’re short on time – the staff is hit or miss when it comes to speed & attentiveness. I often go to the bar for a new brew if the server is lagging. If you sit at the brewmaster’s table a manager will usually help the servers & the service is better then.

As someone who works in a restaurant I will admit I have high expectations but Victory didn’t even come close. Yes they have great beer but the food was absolutely awful! I had a burger. The burger came out with two tiny slices of onion on it and it tasted like bad diner food. My friend ordered the meatball sandwhich. He couldn’t even eat it. It tasted like oregano with a little bit of meat mixed in.
If you are looking for a place to go and have a good beer then Victory may be the place but if you want to have good food as well you would be better off going to Iron Hill

This was my second time at victory with my wife; first time was not good. This time was worse.
We both worked in restaurants for many years, so we usually don’t bash on places. Our service was great. The beer is great as expected.
The food is terrible. Their buffalo sauce is syrupy, caked on, breaded terribly, and tastes more like BBQ. Their ribs were tough, which means they were cooked too high for too short. The bread for burgers and sandwiches is too light and fluffy. YOU CAN’T HAVE BAD BREAD AROUND PHILLY! Go somewhere else and order a Victory beer and better food.

Call me crazy, but I was disappointed in the renovations. I was never a huge fan of the the long skinny bar they had before but the new bar area was able to to look dull and overly ornate at same time. Seems to have a lot of useless space, and you still can’t see a TV from all the the seats. It is form over function for sure.

The food doesn’t seem as good as well. The portions seemed smaller and less flavored, I know the pizza didn’t seem as tasty as it used to be. And last time I was there, my wife and I ordered two burgers that came out under 5 minutes….that is not a good thing in my book. I wonderded if the burgers were precooked and sitting on burner all night.

The service is not always the friendliest.

The beer of course remains good.

Returned to Victory yesterday hoping to find some more of the delicious Scarlet Moon rauch weizenbock, but I was too late. And they were also out of their regular Fest Oktoberfest brew, as well as the regular Weizenbock, so our growlers went unfilled, alas. The beer selection seemed more heavily skewed to lagers than I remember from the past, although there were 4 different beers on cask as an antidote (Hop Devil, ESB, Porter and Storm King stout), and a nice, bitter, floral single hop IPA, 132 cent.

Service was more hit than miss, with a helpful waiter, and the food from the kitchen (that was also revamped and expanded in the recent renovation) was better, too. The jerk grinder was pleasantly zippy, and not dry, and the jerk veggie wrap special a moist blend of seasonal vegetables, again hitting the right spice note.

Noise levels continue to be problematic at Victory (especially close to the bar with the TV volume turned up during at Eagles game).

Love the beer, like the food, wish there was a quiet section, and PLEASE BRING BACK SCARLET MOON!

The beer at Victory is consistently great. On a recent visit we enjoyed the smooth Oktoberfest and the unusual Scarlet Moon rauch (smoked) weizenbock, which was particularly delicious. If you’re a fan of Leffe and similar Belgian brews or of bocks or weiss beers (particularly Schneider Aventinus) you’ll love this beer! (FWIW, a later visit to Triumph in Philly turned up a rauch weizen doppelbock, which was sweeter and higher in alcohol, and also delicious).

Before the renovation Victory was noisy, you had to run the gauntlet of a smoky bar to get to the restaurant, and had an atmosphere that was at best, industrial (not surprising, considering the building was a Pepperidge Farm bakery at one time). Now it’s non-smoking, has a warmer atmosphere, but is still too noisy. They badly need sound-dampening baffles in the ceiling!

Two other things haven’t changed: Hit-or-miss service and food that is decent bar food, but nothing more.

But if you’re looking for great beer and a place to go to with friends, Victory is a great place.

The Best Beer in Pennsylvania and one of the best in the country… along with a fantastic brunch, lunch and dinner menu. Top it all off with great service/staff and a family friendly atmosphere and Victory will quickly become a regular destination for any first time diner/drinker. (just leave me a spot at the bar, thanks!)

Checked this place out on Friday with my wife and 10-month old daughter. Finally their restaurant lives up to the quality of their beer! They completely gutted the old place and replaced it with something that actually feels like a restaurant and not somebody’s garage bar. It’s big, open, and loud– perfect if you have a small child prone to random high-pitched screams. The beer continues to be among my favorite; the Whirlwind Wit was the perfect choice for a hot day. However, for me the highlight was the BBQ. I’m a huge fan of bbq, having enjoyed it all over the South and Kansas City, so I was a bit skeptical about trying Victory’s. I shouldn’t have thought twice because their pork bbq is AMAZING. Can’t wait to go back for more!

Review Guidelines
Be Respectful. Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?

Although the old saying, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all," is swell, we encourage constructive feedback (ie, be polite), and recommend backing-up your comments with evidence/witnesses.

Be Honest. Look where it got Abe Lincoln. Well, before the evening at the theater.

We don't recommend complaining just for the sake of it (see number 1), but if you have a legitimate comment, it should be shared. Also, don't hesitate to disagree with other comments, even if your opinion is in the minority. If patrons aren't honest about their experiences, restaurants won't know that there is room for improvement. And there always is.

Be Specific. "The food was good" doesn't cut it.

Each dining experience is unique, so if a dining experience moves you in any way, by all means, share the details. Choose the sensory details that impacted your experience the most and describe them in your postings. Other foodies will gobble it up—literally.

Be Concise. 'Nuf said.

What? We thought it was pretty clear the first time.

Be Helpful. Sort of like how the elves and reindeer help Santa.

Will what you have to say improve the restaurant's ability to provide impeccable service and improve the dining experience for others (again, see number 1)? If so... help away.

Show a Little Pride. No Jane or John Does please.

If you are too embarrassed to put your name as the commenter, you probably should re-evaluate your comments (you know the drill... see number 1). If you have sensitive information that you feel needs to be passed along, please use your best judgment and e-mail it to us to avoid public posting. We don't want you to have any post-post regrets.

Don't Name Names. Let's not get too personal here.

We know you want to share your experiences, both good and bad, but this isn't the place to publicly condemn or praise individual people. Feel free to comment on "the service", "the chef", or "the staff", but any positive or negative mention of specific names will be moderated.
